Academic News

Kyungdong University Global in South Korea, in partnership with the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA), is accepting applications for its Spring 2027 Partial Graduate Scholarship. The application deadline is November 6, 2026, with studies expected to begin on March 2, 2027.

The scheme supports self-sponsored students pursuing selected master’s degrees, including the Master of Arts in International Hospitality and Tourism Management. Other eligible programmes are the Master of Arts in International Business Administration and the Master of Engineering in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. All programmes are taught entirely in English. The research track lasts four semesters, while the coursework track takes five semesters.

The scholarship covers the first semester’s tuition fee of US$5,000, subject to university rules. From the second semester onwards, scholarship levels depend on first-semester academic performance. Students achieving average marks of 80–89 receive a 50% scholarship, leaving a tuition balance of US$2,500. Those achieving 90 or above receive a 70% scholarship, leaving US$1,500 payable.

Students are responsible for dormitory charges of US$1,100 per semester, alongside airfare, application fees, health insurance and other personal or initial expenses. KDU Global also provides assistance with finding part-time student employment.

Applicants must be citizens and residents of an East African Community Partner State: Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo or Somalia. They must hold an undergraduate degree and provide academic transcripts.

English proficiency requirements are IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 71, or higher. These certificates are mandatory for admission and visa processing; EFSET, Duolingo and PTE results are not accepted.

Before final admission, selected applicants must provide a six-month bank statement and a bank balance certificate showing more than US$16,000. Financial sponsorship must come from the applicant or their parents. Biological siblings may act as sponsors where the parents are deceased.

Applications can be submitted through the online application form. Applicants should also download and complete the required supporting forms.
