The Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s School of Hotel and Tourism Management has appointed three academics to new leadership roles. Prof. Dan Wang will oversee research, Prof. Deniz Kucukusta will lead global engagement and student affairs, and Prof. Kam Hung will be responsible for postgraduate programmes.

The School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) has announced three appointments aimed at strengthening its academic leadership.

Prof. Dan Wang has been appointed Associate Dean (Research), Prof. Deniz Kucukusta Associate Dean (Global Engagement and Student Affairs), and Prof. Kam Hung Assistant Dean (Postgraduate Programmes).

Dan Wang to oversee research

Prof. Dan Wang, the newly appointed Associate Dean (Research), also serves as Associate Director of the Research Centre for Digital Transformation of Tourism.

Wang holds a PhD in Business Administration from Temple University. Her research focuses on digital transformation in tourism, technology adoption, social media marketing and environmental management practices in the hotel industry.

Deniz Kucukusta to lead global engagement and student affairs

Prof. Deniz Kucukusta has been appointed Associate Dean (Global Engagement and Student Affairs).

Kucukusta earned her bachelor’s degree from Çukurova University and completed her master’s and doctoral studies at Dokuz Eylül University. After working in the travel and tourism industry for five years, she pursued an academic career.

Her research interests include hospitality management, health and wellness tourism, spa management and human resource management in the tourism and hospitality sector. Kucukusta previously served as an Assistant Dean at PolyU SHTM.

Kam Hung appointed to oversee postgraduate programmes

Prof. Kam Hung has been appointed Assistant Dean (Postgraduate Programmes).

Hung earned her bachelor’s degree from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and completed her master’s and doctoral degrees at Texas A&M University. Her research interests include Chinese tourist behaviour and psychology, cruise tourism, luxury consumption in tourism and hospitality, and senior travel.

The appointments are expected to strengthen PolyU SHTM’s research capacity, international academic engagement, student services and postgraduate education.
