Academic News and Events

Graduate students, researchers, faculty members and industry professionals from around the world are invited to participate in the 32nd Annual Graduate Education and Graduate Student Research Conference in Hospitality and Tourism, which will take place from 7–9 January 2027 at the Conrad N. Hilton College of Global Hospitality Leadership, University of Houston, Texas, USA. The conference is widely recognized as one of the leading international academic events dedicated to graduate education and emerging research in hospitality and tourism.

For more than three decades, the conference has provided a platform for graduate students and early-career scholars to present original research, exchange ideas with leading academics, and build international professional networks. Organizers describe the event as a unique forum that bridges graduate education, academic research and industry practice in hospitality and tourism.

Hosted by the Conrad N. Hilton College of Global Hospitality Leadership, the 2027 conference will feature a comprehensive academic program including research paper presentations, poster sessions, doctoral networking activities, faculty discussions and industry-focused sessions. The event is expected to attract participants from leading hospitality and tourism schools across North America, Europe, Asia and other regions.

A key feature of the conference is its emphasis on graduate student development. Participants will have opportunities to receive feedback from experienced scholars, discuss research methodologies, explore publication strategies and engage with academic journal editors. The conference has long been regarded as an important stepping stone for graduate students pursuing academic careers in hospitality and tourism.

The 2027 program will begin with a pre-conference workshop titled “Workshop on Informatics, Data Science, and Economics in Hospitality and Tourism Research (WIDE-HTR)”, focusing on advanced analytical methods and emerging research approaches. Additional activities include keynote sessions, concurrent research presentations, poster competitions, a sponsoring schools and career fair, and networking events designed to foster collaboration among students, faculty and industry representatives.

According to the organizers, submissions are welcomed on a broad range of topics related to hospitality, tourism, events, recreation, destination management, consumer behavior, technology, sustainability and education. The conference encourages contributions that advance both theoretical understanding and practical applications within the hospitality and tourism sectors.

The call for submissions will open on 1 June 2026, with abstracts and papers due by 15 September 2026. Acceptance notifications are scheduled for 20 October 2026, while final papers must be submitted by 11 November 2026.
