When conducting a search in The Encyclopedia of World Tourism, users should pay attention to the following points:

  • The title of the entry or the name of the author being searched should be entered correctly and without spelling errors.
  • Users may search by:
  1. entry title,
  2. keyword,
  3. subject,
  4. author name,
  5. institution or organization name,
  6. or category.

After a search is completed, the system displays results under three different sections:

Entry

Displays encyclopedia entries directly related to the search term.

Content

Displays the number of content matches found within encyclopedia entries related to the searched term or keyword.

Author

Displays the number of authors found in the system related to the search query (for author searches).

In addition, users may visit the Categories page to browse all entries related to a particular subject area.

For broader searches, users are advised to try:

  • singular and plural forms of keywords,
  • alternative spellings,
  • abbreviations,
  • and related concepts.

Search results may vary depending on:

  • the scope of the keyword,
  • the availability of related entries,
  • and the number of indexed contents in the encyclopedia database.

Users may also use category navigation and cross-references (“See also”) to access related topics and entries more effectively.
