Before preparing and submitting an entry to The Encyclopedia of World Tourism, contributors are strongly advised to carefully review the following guidelines. All entries submitted to the Encyclopedia are expected to comply with the principles of scholarly publishing, editorial standards, and academic ethics.

  1. Specific writing guidelines have been prepared for different subject areas covered by the Encyclopedia. Contributors are expected to examine the relevant writing guidelines before beginning the preparation of an entry. The guidelines can be accessed through the relevant link provided on the platform. If no specific guideline exists for the intended topic, contributors should follow the guideline most closely related to the subject area or contact the editorial office for further guidance.
  2. It should be noted that different types of entries within the Encyclopedia may require distinct writing standards in terms of content structure, citation style, heading system, and bibliographic organization. Accordingly, each entry is expected to be prepared in accordance with the editorial standards specific to its subject area.
  3. Any visual materials uploaded together with an entry must be legally authorized for use in terms of copyright and intellectual property rights. Contributors are expected to identify in advance the source, ownership, or archival information of all visual materials used. During the upload process, complete source and copyright information must be entered into the relevant fields provided by the system.
  4. Entry texts should be written in a clear, coherent, academically appropriate, and readable style. While maintaining scholarly accuracy, the Encyclopedia also aims to ensure accessibility for diverse groups of users and readers.
  5. Contributors are advised to avoid excessive in-text citations or footnotes within the body of the entry. Instead, all references and sources consulted should be presented collectively in the “References” or “Bibliography” section at the end of the entry in accordance with accepted academic citation standards.
  6. Upon completion of the writing process, the entry must undergo plagiarism screening in accordance with academic ethics principles. During the submission process, the system will require contributors to upload a plagiarism report together with the entry text.
  7. Contributors are expected to prepare entries within their areas of academic expertise or professional specialization. This principle is considered essential for maintaining the scholarly reliability and overall quality of the Encyclopedia’s content.
