Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech, Morocco, will host the international conference “Tourism in the City: Urban Metamorphoses, Mental Health, and Intersecting Perspectives” on 1–2 December 2026. The event will take place at the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences, with both online and in-person participation. Abstract submissions are due by 25 November 2026.
The conference is organised by the Laboratory of Studies on Resources, Mobility and Attractiveness (LERMA), in partnership with Università Niccolò Cusano in Rome and the Marrakech-Safi Region. Scientific coordination is led by Professor Mohamed Boukherouk and Professor Marco Valeri.
The programme will examine tourism’s role in transforming urban spaces and its relationship with the experiences and well-being of residents and visitors. Contributions are invited across three thematic areas: spatial reconfiguration and tourism’s structural effects on cities; the practices, imaginaries and intersecting experiences of residents and tourists; and the connections between tourism, well-being and mental health.
Researchers should submit abstracts of 300–500 words in English, French or Arabic. Each proposal must include a title, five keywords, the selected thematic area and a brief author biography.
The organisers indicate that applicants will receive notification of acceptance within one week of abstract receipt.
Submissions and enquiries should be sent to med.boukherouk@gmail.com.
