CST 2027 Opens Call for Abstracts on Cultural and Regenerative Tourism

Academic Events

The 9th Cultural Sustainable Tourism Conference (CST 2027) will take place from 14 to 16 September 2027 at the European University Centre for Cultural Heritage in Ravello, Italy. Organised by IEREK, the conference will examine the future of cultural tourism through the interconnected perspectives of heritage conservation, technological innovation, environmental responsibility and social equity.

CST 2027 will bring together researchers, tourism professionals, destination managers, heritage conservationists, entrepreneurs and policymakers. The conference aims to facilitate multidisciplinary discussion on how tourism frameworks can respond to digitalisation, climate change, overtourism and the need for stronger community participation.

The programme will address the relationship between digital storytelling and regenerative tourism, with particular attention to technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, digital twins, predictive analytics and smart visitor-management systems. Other subjects include community-based heritage management, cultural authenticity, inclusive tourism, adaptive reuse, sustainable hospitality, low-carbon mobility, cultural routes, creative tourism and climate-resilient heritage conservation.

Authors are invited to submit abstracts of 150–300 words by 20 July 2027. Abstract acceptance decisions will be communicated by 30 July 2027. Participants wishing to pursue publication must submit their full papers by 8 October 2027.

Eligible papers will undergo double-blind peer review and may be considered for publication in the Springer Nature Advances in Science, Technology and Innovation series or relevant IEREK Press journals, subject to the applicable editorial, registration and publication requirements. The Springer series is indexed in Scopus, while selected titles may also be covered by Web of Science.

Both in-person and virtual participation options are available. Further information is provided on the official CST 2027 conference webpage.
