he 2026 Pink Holiday Campaign, held on Nhon Chau Island in Gia Lai Province, Vietnam, combined social welfare initiatives with digital transformation efforts to support and promote the island’s growing tourism sector. Organized on June 19–20 by the Youth Union of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee and the Nhon Chau Commune Youth Union, the campaign aimed to strengthen community development while enhancing the island’s visibility through digital technology.
The program received support from the Youth Union of the Vietnam Commercial and Industrial Bank (VietinBank) – Phu Tai Industrial Zone Branch and the Youth Union of Quy Nhon Port Joint Stock Company. As part of the campaign, organizers presented 30 gift packages, each valued at 300,000 VND, to disadvantaged students living on the island.
A key component of the initiative was the introduction of the “Spreading iGiaLai – Connecting Digital Citizens” model. Through this program, local youth volunteers assist residents in installing and using the iGiaLai Digital Citizen Application, a platform developed by Gia Lai Province to facilitate access to public services and digital information. The application offers features such as administrative services, healthcare information, incident reporting, official provincial announcements, and digital tourism content.
The campaign’s most significant tourism-related contribution was the launch of the “NHON CHAU SMART TOURISM” project. The initiative digitally mapped and promoted nine tourist attractions across the island and established two “Green Compass – Nhon Chau Meeting Point” information stations at key visitor locations. With a total investment of 25 million VND, the project was funded by VietinBank’s Phu Tai Industrial Zone Branch in celebration of the 13th National Youth Union Congress.
According to organizers, the project enables both residents and visitors to access destination information more easily through digital platforms. By digitizing tourism resources, the initiative enhances the visitor experience and provides comprehensive information about the island’s natural attractions, cultural heritage, and tourism services.
Bui Le Khanh, Secretary of the Youth Union of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that the campaign reflects the important role of young people in advancing digital transformation and supporting local socio-economic development. He noted that digital tourism projects not only provide practical benefits for the community but also help strengthen Nhon Chau’s image as an attractive tourism destination.
Nhon Chau, also known as Cu Lao Xanh, is the only island commune in Gia Lai Province. Located approximately 24 kilometers off the coast of Quy Nhon, the island is home to more than 2,300 residents, most of whom rely on fishing and aquaculture for their livelihoods. In recent years, visitor numbers have increased significantly, particularly during the summer season, prompting local authorities and community organizations to invest in tourism infrastructure and digital services.
Further supporting tourism development, Gia Lai Province recently introduced a dedicated passenger terminal for visitors traveling to the island. Since June 15, 2026, tourist boats operating between Quy Nhon and Cu Lao Xanh have used Mui Tan Wharf instead of the former Ham Tu Fishing Port, improving service quality and transportation safety for travelers.
