Ensana Hotels, one of Europe's leading health spa and wellness hotel operators, has opened its first property in Georgia as part of its international expansion strategy. The company has welcomed its first guests to the 154-room, four-star Ensana Sairme South in the renowned spa destination of Sairme in western Georgia. The five-star Ensana Sairme North, currently undergoing an extensive renovation, is expected to open soon.
Situated at an altitude of more than 900 meters in the pristine mountain landscape of the Caucasus, Sairme has been recognized for its thermal and mineral springs for more than six decades. With its entry into the Georgian market, Ensana is expanding its portfolio by adding a destination renowned for health, thermal, and medical wellness tourism.
Frank Halmos, CEO of Ensana Hotels, said that Georgia's exceptional natural healing resources and growing tourism potential make it an ideal fit for the company's long-term strategy. “With Georgia, we are bringing Ensana to a country with outstanding natural healing resources and significant tourism potential. Sairme's vast forests, rich cultural heritage, warm hospitality, and medically valuable thermal and mineral springs make it a destination with strong growth prospects for health spa tourism,” he said.
Natural healing resources at the core
Natural healing resources play a central role in Ensana's destination selection strategy. Sairme's thermal waters are widely used for the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders, while its naturally carbonated mineral waters have long been associated with drinking cures for liver, kidney, urinary tract, and gastrointestinal conditions.
The group's second property in the destination, Ensana Sairme North, is currently in the final phase of a comprehensive renovation. The five-star hotel will feature an expanded wellness and spa complex including indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a hammam, a salt grotto, and modern treatment rooms.
Temur Khokhodze, owner of Sairme Resorts, described the partnership with Ensana as strategically important for the region. He noted that investments in both hotel infrastructure and therapeutic facilities are designed to attract diverse visitor segments while contributing to local economic development, creating new employment opportunities, and strengthening the regional tourism industry.
Easy access for international visitors
Sairme is located approximately three and a half hours by road from Georgia's capital, Tbilisi, and close to Kutaisi, the country's third-largest city. Kutaisi International Airport offers connections to around 30 destinations worldwide, making the spa town easily accessible to international travelers. Ensana Sairme South also provides airport transfer services upon request.
Surrounded by forests and mountains, the resort combines health and wellness services with a wide range of outdoor activities, including hiking, cycling, and paddling, offering guests a comprehensive nature-based wellness experience.
Founded in 2019, Ensana Hotels currently operates health spa properties in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, and Georgia. The company plans to further expand its European portfolio with new hotels scheduled to open in Germany and Italy in 2026.
