Griffith University and Sun Yat-Sen University (SYSU) offer a jointly supervised doctoral programme supported by the China Scholarship Council’s Sino-Australian Innovative Talents in Tourism Program. The scheme targets SYSU graduates with strong research potential, with initial screening and nomination conducted by SYSU.
Research areas include tourism, sport and hotel management, while other business disciplines may be considered individually.
For candidates enrolled at Griffith, university support covers tuition fees for up to four years and Overseas Student Health Cover for 42 months. CSC funding provides a living allowance for up to 48 months, return international airfare and visa application fees.
Applicants must meet Griffith’s academic and English-language admission requirements. Admission is conditional on securing CSC sponsorship. Supervision requires at least one SYSU supervisor and two Griffith supervisors, with opportunities to spend up to twelve months at the partner institution.
Griffith’s application rounds close annually on 1 November and 1 May. SYSU nomination deadlines and CSC funding deadlines are set separately. Candidates receiving a Griffith offer must subsequently apply to CSC for funding.
