ICDES 2027 Opens Call for Abstracts on Destinations, Events and Sports

Academic Events

The second International Conference on Destinations, Events and Sports (ICDES 2027) will take place at Università IULM in Milan, Italy, from 6 to 9 June 2027. Organised by Università IULM in collaboration with the University of Central Florida, Hokkaido University and Doshin EC, the conference will connect academics, industry professionals and institutional representatives.

Under the theme “Resilience, Regeneration, Connections and Creativity,” the conference will examine how destinations, events and sports can respond to social, economic and environmental challenges. Its nine thematic tracks cover major-event legacies, sustainable sports development, crisis management, regenerative tourism, marketing and consumer behaviour, luxury and lifestyle, cultural and creative industries, technological innovation, and tourism businesses and family firms.

Authors are invited to submit extended abstracts of 750 words, excluding references, by 31 October 2026. Submissions and presentations must be in English. Abstracts will undergo double-blind peer review, with acceptance decisions scheduled for 20 December 2026.

The conference will also offer opportunities to meet editors from seven partner international journals. Authors of selected abstracts will be invited to submit full papers through an accelerated review process. Milan’s hosting of the conference after the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will provide a context for discussions about event legacies and destination development.

Announced keynote speakers include Harald Pechlaner, Rodolfo Baggio, Anita Zehrer and Daniele Cassioli.
