Researchers, academics, tourism professionals and technology experts from around the world are invited to participate in the Tourism Management and Computing Technologies International Conference (TMCT 2026), which will be held in Portimão, Algarve, Portugal, from 2–7 November 2026. The conference will be delivered in a hybrid format, with online sessions taking place on 2–3 November and in-person sessions hosted from 5–7 November at the Hotel Pestana Alvor Praia.

Positioned at the intersection of tourism, hospitality and digital innovation, TMCT 2026 aims to explore how emerging technologies are transforming tourism operations, visitor experiences and destination management. The conference will focus on topics such as artificial intelligence, automation, robotics, data analytics, cybersecurity, digital platforms, smart tourism systems and technology-enabled sustainability. Organizers describe the event as a forum “where tourism meets the technologies reshaping it.”

The conference program will feature keynote presentations, scientific paper sessions, workshops, doctoral seminars, masterclasses, mentoring activities and an Editors Summit dedicated to academic publishing and research dissemination. Special sessions will also support master's students, doctoral candidates and early-career researchers seeking guidance on research design, methodology, publication strategies and international collaboration.

TMCT 2026 has assembled an impressive roster of internationally recognized keynote speakers, including Prof. Kaye Chon (The Hong Kong Polytechnic University), Prof. Carlos Costa (University of Aveiro), Prof. Dogan Gursoy (Washington State University), Prof. Lianping Ren (Macao University of Tourism), Prof. Fevzi Okumus (University of South Carolina), Prof. Stanislav Ivanov (Varna University of Management), Prof. Jorge Gomes (University of Lisbon) and Prof. Dimitrios Buhalis (Bournemouth University Business School).

The scientific agenda is organized around several thematic tracks, including artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, digital transformation, tourism management and innovation, sustainability, tourism marketing, consumer behaviour, health tourism, psychology and human resources, and law, ethics and regulation in tourism and hospitality. A special “Health Tourism” track, supported by the Pestana Group, will explore innovations such as AI-driven health travel, telemedicine, smart hospitals, wearable technologies and digital therapeutics.

According to the organizers, all accepted and registered contributions will be published in the TMCT Book of Abstracts (ISBN), while conference proceedings will be prepared for submission to Scopus indexing, subject to the database’s evaluation criteria. Authors of full papers may also be considered for publication in selected international journals indexed in Scopus, Web of Science and other academic databases.

The conference is organized with the support of a broad network of academic and industry partners, including research centers, tourism organizations and hospitality stakeholders. Beyond the annual event, the TMCT initiative maintains year-round engagement through the TMCT Talks webinar series, which addresses emerging issues such as service robotics, AI-assisted research, digital tourism experiences and innovation in hospitality.

Researchers interested in presenting their work should note that both abstract and full-paper submissions are due by 31 August 2026, while early registration is available until 20 September 2026. The conference is expected to attract an international audience of scholars, practitioners and policymakers interested in the future of tourism and technology.
