The International Journal of Hospitality Management is inviting submissions for a special issue titled “Space Hospitality: Theories, Frameworks, and Experiences Beyond Earth.” The manuscript submission deadline is 30 November 2026.
The issue aims to develop the theoretical foundations of space hospitality as an emerging research field. It seeks contributions that establish models and frameworks capable of informing research, professional practice and policy as commercial space travel develops.
The interdisciplinary scope connects hospitality with aerospace engineering, human-centred design, space architecture and psychology. Potential contributions include research on commercial human spaceflight, orbital and lunar infrastructure, and the design of human experiences in environments beyond Earth.
Topics also encompass guest and crew wellbeing, resource constraints, artificial intelligence and robotics, workforce preparation, sustainable service systems, food experiences and governance. Authors submitting through the journal’s online system should select “VSI: Space Hospitality.”
The guest editors are Manuel Rivera, Amy Gregory, Sergio Alvarez, Michelle L.D. Hanlon, Alain Berinstain, Yajaira Sierra Sastre and Melissa Patton.
