The INVTUR 2027 and CULTURALITY International Conferences will take place from 20 to 22 April 2027 at the University of Aveiro in Portugal. The joint event will bring together researchers, academics, students, tourism professionals, decision-makers and other stakeholders for three days of discussion, knowledge sharing and interdisciplinary exchange.

INVTUR 2027 will be organised under the theme “Tourism Futures in a World of Challenges.” The conference will examine how tourism can respond to climate and biodiversity pressures, changing consumer expectations, emerging mobility patterns and other sources of uncertainty. Particular attention will be given to community well-being, decent work, inclusion, place identity, destination governance, crisis management, digital platforms and artificial intelligence.

The CULTURALITY conference strand, titled “CULTURALITY & Tourism: Designing Sustainable Paths,” will explore tourism as part of broader cultural, social and territorial ecosystems shaped by memory, identity, participation, creativity and knowledge. Discussions will consider how cultural landscapes, traditional crafts, gastronomy, music, storytelling, oral traditions and vernacular knowledge can contribute to sustainable and inclusive territorial development.

The conferences invite researchers, academics and professionals to submit proposals. The submission deadline has been extended to 30 October 2026. Contributions to the CULTURALITY strand may be submitted as full papers, case studies, extended abstracts, statements of good practice, storytelling contributions or conversations.

Researchers may also propose thematic sessions that bring together contributions addressing a shared research question or subject area. The deadline for thematic-session proposals is 30 September 2026.
