The Journal of Sustainable Tourism is inviting contributions to a special issue titled “Sustainable Luxury Tourism: Opportunities, Tensions, and Impacts.” The extended abstract deadline is 1 November 2026, followed by a full manuscript deadline of 31 May 2027.
The issue will examine how luxury tourism relates to environmental responsibility, social inclusion and cultural preservation. Topics include consumer behaviour, heritage and authenticity, community participation, labour conditions, destination branding, governance and the implications of technological innovation.
Contributions may also explore wellness, medical and experiential tourism, alongside challenges such as overtourism, resource consumption, cultural appropriation and inequality. Theoretical, conceptual and empirical research is welcome, with particular interest in mixed-method, multi-method, cross-cultural and longitudinal studies.
The guest editors are Kalliopi Chatzipanagiotou, Achilleas Boukis, George Christodoulides and Raffaele Filieri.
Authors should submit extended abstracts of 1,000–1,200 words, excluding references, through the journal’s online submission system. Proposals must explain the study’s aims, originality, theoretical framework, methodology and contribution, with expected findings where applicable. Author details and up to six keywords are also required.
Full details and submission instructions are available in the official call for papers.
