The 9th International Scientific Conference ToSEE – Tourism in Southern and Eastern Europe will take place on 25–26 May 2027 in Opatija, Croatia. Organised by the University of Rijeka’s Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, the conference invites academics, researchers, industry professionals, policymakers, and destination stakeholders to exchange research and ideas.

Under the theme “Reimagining Tourism for a Better Future: Regeneration, Resilience and Responsibility,” the conference will explore how tourism can restore destinations, respond to uncertainty, and deliver benefits responsibly. Contributions may address environmental, economic, social, and technological challenges affecting tourism businesses, communities, markets, and destinations. Theoretical, conceptual, and empirical research is welcome.

The organiser’s LinkedIn announcement names Stefan Gössling, Jarkko Saarinen, and Serena Volo as keynote speakers. A dedicated PhD workshop led by Professor Serena Volo is also planned, alongside research presentations and opportunities for international academic exchange.

Authors should submit English-language abstracts of 400–600 words through EasyChair by 1 December 2026. Abstracts must follow the conference template, include four to six keywords, and use four subheadings: Purpose, Methodology, Findings, and Contribution. Participation options include presenting an abstract, submitting and presenting a full paper, or attending without a contribution.

Full papers must be original, written in English, and limited to 30,000 characters. Following editorial assessment and double-blind peer review, accepted papers presented at the conference will be published in the electronic, open-access proceedings. At least one author must present the contribution onsite for it to be considered for publication.
