Academic Events

The International Tourism Studies Association (ITSA) will hold its 11th Biennial Conference at Peking University in Beijing, China, from October 31 to November 3, 2026. The event marks ITSA’s twentieth anniversary, returning to the university where the association was founded in 2006.

Under the theme “From Bytes to Sites: AI-Driven Transformation and Place-Centered Experiences for Future Tourism,” the conference will examine how artificial intelligence and digital technologies can strengthen experiences rooted in destinations, cultural landscapes and human interaction.

The programme will bring together researchers, journal editors, urban planners, policymakers and industry professionals to explore connections between technological innovation, tourism, hospitality and spatial governance.

Registration and a pre-conference workshop are scheduled for October 31, followed by the main conference on November 1–2 and post-conference tours on November 3. English is the official conference language.

Accepted papers will appear in conference proceedings with an ISBN. Selected contributions may be considered for accelerated review by partner journals.

The published call lists July 15, 2026, as the submission deadline, which has now passed.
