PolyU Seeks Research Assistant for Service Robots and Inclusive Employment Project

Academic News

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is inviting applications for a 12-month Research Assistant position at its School of Hotel and Tourism Management. The appointment will support research examining customer attitudes towards service robots remotely operated by workers with mobility impairments.

The project explores how service robots can create employment opportunities and how customers can be encouraged to respond positively to this model. It brings together questions of technology adoption, service interactions and workplace inclusion.

The successful applicant will help prepare laboratory experiments, explain survey procedures to participants and distribute questionnaires following their interactions with a service robot. Applicants must hold an honours degree or an equivalent qualification and be able to speak English.

Application review began on 7 October 2026 and will continue until the position is filled. The university describes the remuneration package as competitive but does not specify a salary.
