Public University of Navarre Seeks Postdoctoral Candidates in Sustainable Viticulture

Academic News

The Advanced Fruit and Viticulture Research Group at the Public University of Navarre (UPNA) in Pamplona, Spain, is inviting early-career researchers to express interest in preparing a joint application to the Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral programme.

The group welcomes candidates with research experience in vineyard management, grapevine physiology, climate resilience, soil management or sustainability. Selected candidates would work with the host team to develop an application aligned with its sustainable viticulture research.

The national programme supports three-year postdoctoral employment contracts at Spanish research institutions. The 2026 call also provides €15,000 in additional funding for expenses directly associated with research activities.

The general eligibility window covers doctoral degrees awarded between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2026, with extensions available for qualifying career interruptions under the call’s conditions. Awards are competitive, with assessment considering both applicants’ academic records and the quality and experience of the proposed host research team.

Spain’s State Research Agency currently lists a provisional researcher application period of 12–26 November 2026, closing at 14:00 mainland Spanish time. This national timetable is separate from the group’s initial expression-of-interest process.

Researchers interested in developing an application with UPNA should complete the expression-of-interest form and upload their CV. Full programme requirements are available on the State Research Agency’s official call page.
