Surrey Business School is inviting UK and international applicants to compete for doctoral tuition fee waivers for studies beginning on 1 April 2027. Applications must be completed by 14 December 2026 at 16:00 GMT.
The awards cover two programmes: the Management and Business PhD and the Hospitality, Tourism, Transport and Events PhD. Candidates must demonstrate academic excellence, meet their programme’s admission requirements and propose research aligned with the school’s disciplinary interests.
Successful applicants will receive a full tuition fee waiver for 36 months of full-time study or 72 months of part-time study. Additional research training support amounts to £750 annually for three years, or £375 annually for six years for part-time researchers. The awards do not cover a living stipend, visa fees or accommodation costs.
Applicants must secure support from at least two University of Surrey academics, with the primary supervisor based at Surrey Business School. The application requires a research proposal of no more than 3,000 words, including references, and a completed fee waiver form containing the supervisors’ statements and declarations.
Candidates must submit an online application for the appropriate PhD programme, upload the completed fee waiver form and email it to the relevant programme contact before the deadline. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
Applicants are expected to receive decisions by the end of February 2027. The awards apply exclusively to April 2027 entry, and deferral is not permitted.
Further information and application documents are available on the University of Surrey’s studentship page.
