Academic News

Tourism and Hospitality Research is inviting submissions for a special issue titled “Ambidexterity in Responsible Tourism and Hospitality Management.” The manuscript deadline is February 15, 2027, with publication anticipated in late 2027 or early 2028.

The issue will examine how destinations, organisations, groups and individuals combine different capabilities to respond to current and future challenges. It seeks research exploring how ambidexterity can support responsible tourism and hospitality management amid crises, environmental pressures and changing operating conditions.

Suggested topics include balancing existing activities with new products and markets, growth and degrowth, overtourism and undertourism, seasonality, decarbonisation, circular economies and human–machine relationships. Contributions may also address community inclusion, small businesses, smart technologies and comparisons between the Global North and South.

The guest editors are Dr Aaron Tham of the University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia; Dr Shirley Chin of Universiti Brunei Darussalam; and Dr Phuong Bui Thi Ngoc of Gia Dinh University, Vietnam.

Original manuscripts should follow the journal’s author guidelines and be submitted through its online submission system. Papers will undergo double-blind peer review under the journal’s standard assessment procedures.
