TTRA Webinar to Examine Resident Attitudes Towards Tourism

Academic News

The Travel and Tourism Research Association (TTRA) will host an online partner webinar on 4 November 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time, exploring residents’ perceptions of tourism and their implications for destination development.

Presented by Longwoods International, the session, titled “Beyond the Welcome Sign: Resident Sentiment About Tourism Today,” will examine the latest findings from the company’s Resident Sentiment Study.

The discussion will focus on changing public attitudes towards tourism, emerging trends in community support and the relationship between destination development and community well-being. It will consider how understanding residents’ perspectives can inform decisions as destinations respond to evolving local expectations.

The presenter, Robert Kelly, Manager of Client Engagement at Longwoods International, works with destination marketing organisations and tourism partners to translate research into practical insights. His work covers visitor trends, resident sentiment, marketing strategy and tourism’s contribution to community well-being. Before joining Longwoods, Kelly spent nine years with STR and CoStar.

Further information and registration are available through the official TTRA event page.
