Writing Guidelines for “Archaeological Excavation”
Archaeological excavations are important activities that contribute to tourism by uncovering, preserving, and interpreting the material remains of past civilizations. They support cultural heritage management, educational experiences, and destination development while enhancing public understanding of history and archaeology. Entries prepared for The Encyclopedia of World Tourism should present the relevant excavation in an objective, academic, and source-based manner. The entry should examine its historical and archaeological significance, location, excavation history, major discoveries, conservation efforts, and relationship with tourism. Where applicable, attention should also be given to visitor experiences, heritage interpretation, management challenges, and its contribution to local, national, and international tourism.
