Writing Guidelines for “Tourism Types and Forms”
Tourism types and forms represent the diverse motivations, activities, and experiences that characterize tourist travel and consumption. They reflect the evolving interests of travelers and contribute to the diversification, specialization, and sustainability of tourism destinations and products. Entries prepared for The Encyclopedia of World Tourism should present the relevant tourism type or form in an objective, academic, and source-based manner. The entry should examine its definition, historical development, key characteristics, target markets, and significance within the tourism system. Where applicable, attention should also be given to its economic, socio-cultural, and environmental impacts, management considerations, contemporary trends, and future development prospects. All information should be supported by reliable and up-to-date academic and industry sources.
Entry Format
1) Entry Title
[Name of the Tourism Type / Tourism Movement]
(If necessary, the English equivalent may be provided in parentheses.)
2) Introductory Statement (Descriptive Sentence)
The introductory statement should not exceed 250 characters.
In one or two sentences, briefly summarize the definition of the tourism type, its distinguishing characteristics, and (if applicable) its primary demand group.
3) Main Text
The main text must contain at least 300 words.
The sections “See Also” and “References” are not included in the word count.
The entry should begin with the introductory statement.
The following headings are recommended. They may be used directly or incorporated into the narrative of the text.
